Simona Volpe
Simona Volpe received her professional dance education at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy, where she trained in a rich blend of the Vaganova, French, and Cecchetti methods. During her final year, she had the opportunity to work with Aaron S. Watkin which was staging a ballet by William Forsythe for the Academy.
Upon graduation, she was offered a contract with the Dresden Semperoper Ballett, where she has been dancing since 2012 under the direction of Aaron S. Watkin, Marcelo Gomes, and currently Kinsun Chan.
Throughout her career, Simona has performed a wide-ranging repertoire and worked with many of the most inspiring choreographers, stagers, and ballet masters of our time, including William Forsythe, John Neumeier, David Dawson, Johan Inger, Alexander Ekman, Ohad Naharin, Yannick Boquin, Cynthia Harvey, Laura Graham, Monique Loudiere, Marcelo Gomes, Isabelle Ciaravola, Nanette Glushak as well as stagers of George Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan, Ashton, Kilian and Mats Ek.
Alongside her performing career, Simona has cultivated a deep passion for teaching. Over the years, she has supported younger dancers and apprentices through private coaching and by transmitting repertoire and artistic approaches within the company. This growing interest led her to pursue the Master’s program in Dance Teacher at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden, where she gained valuable pedagogical knowledge and a renewed perspective on her own artistic practice.
Currently still an active professional dancer, Simona aims to gradually integrate teaching and rehearsal directing into her career, applying the pedagogical tools developed during her studies. As an educator, her goal is to inspire future generations of dancers and to support their artistic and personal growth through a thoughtful teaching approach that respects, motivates, and empowers each individual.
