Video and Audio Conferencing
Microsoft Teams
Target Group: Students and Staff
Microsoft Teams is Microsoft's collaboration platform (part of Microsoft 365) for chat, audio/video meetings, file collaboration, and course/team organization. Teams supports quick coordination via chat as well as scheduled video conferences, hybrid teaching, and project-based work in channels. You need a PC/Mac, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and a headset, speakers, or microphone. Meetings can be started and joined via the Teams app or a modern browser. Depending on permissions, participants can also join as guests.
Important features
- Audio and video communication (one-to-one and group meetings).
- Chat, channels and persistent communication within Teams.
- Screen and application sharing.
- Co-authoring of files (students only).
- Recording of meetings (students only).
Sign-in / Usage
Access is via your Microsoft 365 account. Meetings can be scheduled directly in Teams or via Outlook/calendar invitations. Participants usually receive an invitation link and can — depending on settings — join as guests without their own Microsoft account.
Please use your Palucca email address and your Palucca password to sign in.
Notes on recording & data protection
Meeting recordings are by default saved to OneDrive (private meetings) or to SharePoint (channel meetings). Please inform your participants if you are recording a session. Staff are prohibited from uploading internal university files and documents to Microsoft OneDrive or record meetings. Please use the DFNconf service for recordings. Files stored on Microsoft OneDrive are not covered by backups and will be automatically deleted 30 days after a student's deregistration or an employee's termination of affiliation.

DFNconf
Target Group: Staff
The DFNconf service enables video, audio, and web conferencing. You need a PC/Mac, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with internet access as well as a headset, speakers, or microphone. You can join a conference via browser, app, or phone. Lectures can also be live-streamed and recorded. In this case, students only see the lecturer. A chat is available for communication with participants. If you want to get to know the service, the DFN association flyer (PDF) provides a good first overview: Click here

The portal offers invitation texts that allow organizers to invite participants to a video conference. Once the organizer enters the room, other participants can join.
